MICROPILES

According to the European Standard, all piles with a diameter equal or less than 300 millimeters are considered micropiles.

The micropiles are small diameter piles that contain a structural element that allows to transfer the loads or to limit the deformations. They can be performed using small equipment. The armature of the micropiles consists of a tube or a steel section and the filling material consists of a cement mixture or cement mortar or grout.

Micropiles are used in the following functions:

  • underpinning existing structures,

  • foundation of new structures

  • retaining structures to allow excavation excavations,

  • improvement of the stability of slopes and slopes,

  • anchoring of structures.
